Matthew Cavan

It all began in Belfast where Matthew was born and began his career as an actor. On the 29 March 1989, Matthew came waltzing into the world and ever since has not stopped screaming, shouting and singing using his lungs and seeking attention to get him where he is to date. Matthew, realising his potential and ability, auditioned for the role as Gavroche in the Les Mieserables (the concert version) at Belfast’s very own Odyssey Arena. In 1997 Matthew joined The Rainbow Factory and in 2000 he secured a scholarship with regard to Stagecoach where he received more training to base upon his foundations. Matthew has always had a deep passion and love for amateur dramatics and has been involved mainly with two companies to date which include the New Lyric Operatic and Ulster Operatic Society. Matthew quite recently played his personal dream role as Angel in the rock musical Rent. Matthew auditioned as Ugly Sister at the Qdos Panto Limited, however he was of course too stunning and beautiful for the ugliest (well that is what he likes to believe). Matthew was unsuccessful for this role albeit he was offered the understudy ‘Ugly’ and assistant stage manager. Matthew then returned the following year as King Of Gooseland and assistant stage manager in Mother Goose (Belfast’s Grand Opera House) alongside Shinead Byrne, Aidan O'Neill and May McFetridge. Matthew just finished his London Debut with Northern Ireland first publically funded Queer Theatre Company Theatreofpluck, staring as Jason/2 in Bison - Lachlan Phillpott directed by the stunning Dr Alyson Campbell.
